About that...

Expect a humongo update with pictures when I return. It's too costly to sit and wait for so much to upload! I'm keeping a travel journal though so the online one will not be half-assed.

My Travel Journal!

So... I'm leaving today! I should be in California at around 6pm local time. I'm all packed up - I managed to fit 6 weeks worth of stuff into a hiking backpack. I know! I look like a damn camel (or idiot, as Agatha calls me) with it on, but it works. I'm still in shock that today's today!!

This is my travel journal, which means I will do the very best I can to record everything that's happening on my trip down under so that you people back home and anywhere else can read it!

Anyone can comment on my entries (I would really love this!); all you have to do is click 'comment' and submit an anonymous one. I would love it if you put your name in the subject header or sign it so I know who it's from!

Anyways, I need to shower and eat and leave! See y'all later!
Love,
Juls

Exercise City and Nature's Surprises!!

I biked to Pilates today. Very VERY fast. My thighs were burning when I got there. And of course when I got there I did more burn-worthy Pilates moves. I biked because I wouldn't have access to a car on the way back and the day was soooooooooooooooooo nice (22!!) that I couldn't let it go to waste.

Afterwards, I slowly biked back home. I took the longer (prettier) route that includes a pond, a fountain, and near the end a brilliant view of the North-Saskachewan river. As I am biking (I'm right beside the "view"), I see some movement in my peripheral vision. I look up and saw white, and I thought it was a person. As I biked closer, I saw it wasn't a person at all!! I saw a deer (most probably a doe, since she didn't have antlers) prance off into the bushes!!!!!!! I'm so lucky!!

This made my day today and I wanted to share it! Have an excellent rest of the night. =)

Arrrr!!

I asked Taran, "If I were a pirate, and I was locked up in jail, would you bring me the keys so I could unlock my cell and free myself?"
And he groaned, pushed his head into my leg and flopped on his back so I could give him a tummy-rub.

Spring update!!

Hello everyone!!

Class has been going well, I feel good about myself because I know what he's talking about and put my hand up in class like a keener. It's wonderful. I love the material. JUST LOVE IT. So many interesting articles from class that I need to look up and maybe read. I'll bore y'all with a summary of the best ones sometime in the future.

Besides school, the weather has been very nice, and I've been spending my free time biking to empty fields and reading. And getting bitten by mosquitoes and spiders and getting burnt. I love summer.

I've also been waiting for updates from ISV re Australia! I sent in all my money crap at the beginning of May and haven't gotten word that they've received anything. I've emailed them, but nothing. I'll try to call tomorrow, I think, and hopefully I'll talk to someone directly. I just want to stop worrying and focus on getting shots and packing. VERY EXCITED!!

Erin and I are planning a fish party for June after my class is done! It's going to be a blast! Dress up in fish costume, eat seafood and enjoy the marine decor. With light alcohol (LIGHT!!). It'll be a nice opportunity to invite new friends from our past school year, which is something I'm mos def looking forward to.

I've also started to plan for next summer... How does the entire "summer" (end of April/beginning of May to the end of August) in the most expensive city in the world sound? I'm very excited about this. My ma and pa have connections over there in case of emergencies, and because I've got me a Polish passport, I have EU membership and can get a job easier than those who don't have such connections. I know, I know, I'm busy dealing with Australia/New Zealand first, but it's good to plan in advance. That way I can save up. Waaaaay up.

Anyways, I've got class....

A Poem by my Sister.

'FREE'
by Agatha G.

The moon is up, the stars are bright,
We're running through the quiet night,
For once in life, there is no fear,
To make our way along the pier.
We shout it out, let it be known,
This is we, just how we've grown.
And everyone can finally see,
The way it feels to be so free.
Hold out our arms to show them all,
Fat or skinny, short or tall,
This is the way we've come to be,
And now for once, we've become free.
"Turn back! Turn back!" They call from behind.
Now I'm alone, ahead I find,
Some man watching, eager to see,
Me, exposed, but still so free.
So without a thought, I turn and run,
Our daring night will soon be done.
So I get dressed, he watches with glee,
But I don't care, because I'm free.

Kudos to whoever guesses what it's about! (That's right, a whole KUDOS!)

Only a little over a week to go..

Interesting Things I've Done in the Past Couple Days:
- Fell into the side nets at tennis. Y'know, those large nets on either side of the courts so that if you are constantly hitting the balls to other people's courts they don't have to get it for you. It just catches in the nets. Unless you hit it over the nets, of course. So the old men adjacent to us laughed at me, and then about a half hour later the one guy got his foot caught in the net and completely fell down. Yes, I laughed at him.
- Untangled my dreadlocks. Now, I'm not saying I was trying to grow 'locks, it's just that my hair gets tangled and sometimes I just leave it to do so. It forms dreads at this point. So I spend an hour in the shower untangling these dreads. I succeeded! So yay.
- I think I'm digging O-Chem. SHOCK! I shouldn't speak so soon, but I've got a good feeling. As long as I don't fall behind.

OK, I'm off to study stats for a solid hour. Then sleepies.

I'm Supposed to be Studying!!

Just a quick note.

Have I ever told anyone how much I ADORE the new 'tabs' feature on Internet Explorer? No, I don't think so.

Pls check out The Jimi Hendrix Experience's Bold As Love. I adore that song. Bought the album two weeks ago and am listening to it.
